This is a friendly reminder the Greenwich Twp. School District will be closed on Monday, May 27th, 2024 in observance of Memorial Day
At this time Greenwich Elementary School HAS LOST POWER. We are aware it is very late notice however at this time the elementary school students will also be released early. Busses will arrive at the elementary school after their middle school routes are completed. Approximately at 1:00pm.
All afternoon preschool has been canceled. All afterschool activities and clubs have also been canceled.
To make sure it was clear, Greenwich Elementary School Students will be remaining in school for the full day.
SMS students will be leaving on a normal early release schedule.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your patience and understanding today while we dealt with the many issues in both buildings. The power has currently returned to GES but we were informed there can be continuous outages as they are working on all of the local power issues. We couldn’t be more proud of how all of the staff jumped in and assisted as we navigated the day with no phones, power and internet. Along with all of those issues, we had numerous new leaks and flooded classrooms in each building.
As of now we do not have an updated time that power will be restored to the middle school. We would like to plan accordingly in case there is still no power in the morning. If no power is restored timely, SMS students will take buses at their normal time to GES. At GES, 6th grade will report to the library, 7th grade will report to the gym and 8th grade will report to the cafeteria. Both buildings will be on the standard early release schedule for Friday, May 24, 2024. There will be no lunch served for either building, please provide your child a snack and water for the day.
If we get notification that power has been restored to the middle school we will resume our normal schedule. We wanted to share this with you in a timely manner to assist you in making these emergency plans. Hopefully at some point this evening or early morning, we can share that we are up and running. But until then please plan accordingly.
SMS Parents- If your child is a walker or you drop them off, you will need to drive your child to the elementary school. Please arrive no later than 7:50. All cars pull up in front of the school in the outer loop along the sidewalk in one line. For safety reasons all parents stay in their cars. Students must exit the car on the sidewalk side. When all students are released the cars will proceed forward. Dismissal for SMS will occur at 12:15. For dismissal all cars are to pull up through the upper parking lot and form two lines. Staff will ask you for your child’s name and your child will be dismissed from the gym right to your car.
GES Parents- Parents should not arrive at the school for dismissal prior to 12:40. This will ensure you are not mixed in the SMS dismissal line. If you arrive too early, it can cause great delays for all.
Please be sure to keep checking your alerts, email, and texts for any changes. Since the internet is controlled by SMS for the entire district, there is a good chance it will still be down tomorrow. If you need to call for a change of dismissal, to speak to the school nurse or any other changes to your child’s day be sure to call 1-908-859-2022, the GES main line.

EVERY GES student will get a FREE mustache for Mustache Day tomorrow! It's waiting for them in their homeroom.
Also if you have empty paper towel rolls they are still needed for FFN on Friday!
GES: Because we raised $2,000 in the Penny Race, every student will get a stick on mustache tomrorow for Mustache Day for free! The SLA will hand them to homeroom teachers today and they will be handed out during homeroom tomorrow
